Justin, I was all "awww" until the "waiting to die" comment... then I shot ginger ale out of my nose. Thanks, babe.

I firmly believe that progress can't be stopped, only temporarily impeded.

Each generation becomes more enlightened and progresses further, and then yields to a new generation that is even more enlightened and makes even greater progress. That isn't to suggest everyone in a new generation is enlightened in some heavenly revelation, but the number of people refusing to progress (on any given issue) shrinks steadily until they become an extremist element that nobody gives serious credence. It's inevitable: Progress always wins.

Some months ago, the generation currently in power - the current holders-back of progress - were busy lamenting the apathy of my generation. I offered my thoughts then, and stand behind them: "We're not apathetic. We're patient, and we're waiting for you to die."
