I’m helping Cassie with her homework and they are learning to identify the beginning, middle and end of a story. The books that are being sent home are really really really (no, REALLY) easy to read. It’s kind of insulting her, actually. But they use them I guess so that the story plot thing is easier for them to figure out. I asked her if she needed me to read the book with her and help her with it.
She said (and I’m laughing so hard I can barely type)… in a very exasperated voice
“Mom! There’s only 3 pages here. The first page is the beginning, the 2nd page is the middle and the last page of the end. Geez!”
Ummmm… okay, then.

I had to go to the librarian and request that Evan be allowed to check out chapter books. He was bringing home picture books, with 20 minutes of reading per evening expected, and the picture books were done by the time he got home LOL!
Amy *laugh* They don’t limit what they check out, these are just the project booklets… she’s bringing home regular story books to read from the library. She was definitely offended though!
