I just got back with Cassie from the appointment with the surgeon. It is indeed a hernia. Surgery is going to be Friday morning. I realize that this is “no big deal” in the medical community, but someone wants to come near my child with a very sharp object… on purpose. So yeah, this is a big deal to me.
My neighbor is going to watch Jamie for us that day so we don’t have to deal with him at the hospital; which is good because Jamie really wanted to go there.
It’s a common surgery, outpaitent, at the Children’s Hospital. We have to be there a couple of hours before, the surgery itself takes about an hour and then we have to hang around for a couple of hours afterwards. It’s okay. I’m okay. We’ll be okay. Right?

Yes…I always say “sharp object, piercing my flesh…not gonna happen”.
IT will be fine. Just fine. Liam has had 2 surgeries…both minor and I fretted over both. That is a mom’s job. I will warn you that for me the absolute worst part is when they put them under. I was there both times and it just feels sooooo “wrong” when they put them to sleep. I cried both times. You will be fine and so will she.
I agree with Sonja…even though I am a nurse, the worst part was when they put Matthew under. Be forewarned this is a scary part, if you don’t think you can handle it have hubby walk her into the OR. I won’t do it again, that will be hubbies job (but I just pray to God, no more surgeries, one was bad enough!)
We don’t go with them to be put under. They take them away awake. I think we are allowed to be there when they wake up. I actually think that’s for the best. I know I certainly wouldn’t handle that part well. A friend of mine’s kid had their tonsils out and she said he rode into the ER on a little car smiling in blissful ignorance… LOL. Like I said, I think that’s actually for the best.
We’ll be thinking of you. There is no “small” surgeries when it’s somone in you’re family.
Girl, I flipped when my kid had his tubes put in. She will be okay, but it’s no fun for the parentals. CHOA is GREAT.
HUGS.
Children’s Hospital rocks! All will be fine. Take snacks and the hard part for us was the waking up. Tell that nurse to push the pain meds asap. What’s the expected recovery time for this surgery? Will baby girl be out of commission?
Oh hon, I know this is hard. TRUST ME, I know. But, she will be fine and so will you. Try to get some sleep tonight and if you guys need somebody to come keep you company, just let me know. Afterall, Children’s is our second home these days.
Glad to hear she is doing great. Hope the recovery is a snap! Glad everything went great. Whew!
